Public transport services with wearable devices for different mobility types
Guide2Wear analyses current portable information and communication devices and their potential benefits for the future traveller.
The main goals of Guide2Wear are:
- to implement a public transportation navigation system prototype to showcase applicable mobile services for the future traveller by providing new functions such as support in the use of ticket machines or guidance to the relevant platforms
- to use wearable devices to improve co-modality and the use of environmentally friendly transport modes by focusing on information providence, payment support and passenger guidance
- to identify different user groups and their specific needs (senior citizens, mobility impaired etc.)
- to characterise mobility types, mobility behaviour and future mobility trends
The prototype navigation system will be developed by considering user demands as well as travelling records of test users in Europe. Based on this information, a user-friendly mobile tool which will support door-to-door intermodal trips will be generated.
Guide2Wear will thoroughly analyse both technical and human aspects of modern mobility and navigation patterns. During this process wearable devices and state-of-the-art knowledge in this field will be considered. Additionally, different user needs and their mobility habits will be considered such as legal and economic aspects.
